QUARANTINE LIFE

Hello!

These are crazy times we live in. I hope you all are staying healthy and all the businesses who are struggling get the help they need. I thought that I would share you how I’m self-isolating and how I maintain my physical and mental health while having to stay inside 22-23 hours a day.

Working

Even I’m staying in my hometown, I’m still working full time. I work appr. 7,5 hours every day and I usually start my day at 8:00 and finish at around 16 to keep up with the routine. I think the most important thing is to make a plan for each day and wake up at the same time daily. But it’s also necessary to have a proper weekend without working so the body and mind can rest. I believe that routines keep us motivated and make us feel that everything is as normal as always.

Morning routines

One of the positive things about working from home is that you don’t have to wear nice clothes or put any makeup on before starting to work. My skin feels so clean without all the makeup and I have to admit I prefer working in pyjamas rather than jeans.

Being social

I’m lucky that I came to my hometown right on time before the Helsinki area will go into lockdown. I see my family daily, I have my cat to keep me company (we like having naps together) and we Facetime with Fraser often and watch Game Of Thrones together (my first time watching it- better later than never). For now, I’m feeling quite well but I’m sure we are all going to face the time when we just want to leave the house.

Working out

I usually go for a walk in the morning, do some yoga or a home workout (LesMills online classes). My dad made a home gym to our garage so that we can still keep our bodies moving even we can’t go to the gym anymore. I’ve been enjoying walking and running because leaving the house time to time is much needed.

Reading

Now is the perfect time for me to read all the books I’ve been supposed to read past months. I’m currently very interested in British history and that’s why reading this The Time Travellers Guide to Restoration Britain book. I’ve learned so much about the Great Fire of London and how people lived in 1660 in the UK. I hope that everyone is using this period to read more books!

This is basically what my days include (basically every day for the next 3-4 weeks) and how I enjoy myself. In my opinion, the most essential thing is to take care of the mental and physical health by exercising and getting some fresh air daily.

These are difficult and weird times for all of us and that’s why it’s essential to support each other and remember to stay in touch with family and friends.

Stay safe!
