New home here we come

Can’t believe it’s been exactly a month since I wrote here last time (this was not planned, by the way). I just finished all my assignments on Monday and started working part-time in an estate agency here in Newcastle. I will be doing digital marketing and social media management during the next 3 months, and I find it extremely exciting!

I am also very proud of myself for getting a job here as it was one of my fears before moving here that I might not get employed. Luckily, my fears were pointless. In addition to that, I have also noticed how much better my English is these days and writing the assignments and speaking every day has made me forget that I have been living here for only six months now. Although, I must admit that people occasionally ask me where I am from as I apparently have a “funny accent”.

Even though things in here are getting better all the time as the lockdown restrictions are easing, I am also looking at travel restrictions online every day as I really want to visit Finland and see my family and friends soon – it’s been too long. Hopefully, we can do that soon with the excellent vaccination pace here in the UK. I also must confess that before Spring I was not that keen on travelling to Finland because of the weather. Now I am more than happy to go and experience few weeks of Finnish summer.

I have also started going to the gym again more actively. This time, I’m determined to keep regularly going to maintain my fitness. I couldn’t go for a while because the assignments kept me busy from early hours in the morning till late at night. I’m thrilled that now I have 4 free days a week to exercise – I really want to get into the same shape as I was a few years ago when I was training for Tough Viking sport competition in Finland.

By the way: a huge tv-series recommendation for all the friends in the UK – we have recently been watching Line of Duty, and we are obsessed! It’s one of the best series I have ever watched and full of action. It can be watched from BBC iPlayer, but unfortunately, it cannot be watched outside of the UK.

But lastly, as the title of this blog post states, we are finally getting the keys to our new home, and the renovation is starting next week! I am so excited as I have never been part of a renovation, which is even more thrilling as we will be living in the house. I have already planned to document the whole process so that everyone interested can see the starting point and result.

So, hopefully, I will be writing another blog post soon enough. Until then, remember to keep yourself healthy!
